Winter Wonderland Themed Baby Shower

Planning a baby shower in winter? Why not use a winter baby shower theme? By using some easily accessible items, you can easily turn the location of the baby shower into a winder wonderland!

Invitations

Invitations can be made from homemade snowflakes. Simply enfold a white piece of paper with the necessary information inside of a homemade snowflake and send in an envelope. Another baby shower invitation option is to print your favorite snowy scene on a card as a background to the necessary party information.

Decorations

Enlist the help of neighborhood children in cutting out white paper snowflakes. Hang these from the ceiling, use them as placemats at the tables, and attach to the walls and windows. White balloons and white crepe paper streamers add to the atmosphere. Use clear plastic or glass plates if possible, with clear or white silverware and cups. Intertwine the food table and gift table with white lights, and use these wherever you can to add that additional little sparkle. Cover chairs in crisp white linen, tied with large silver bows. White tablecloths sprinkled with iridescent snow or covered with a snow blanket are perfect table covers. A quick and easy table centerpiece is to place a tree branch inside a tall vase and hang delicate crystal angel ornaments from the branches. Also, little ceramic snow babies placed here and there on the tables add to the setting of the scene. A few baskets full of white Styrofoam balls double as props for games as well.

Games

Take a piece of cardboard and cut out holes in different sizes. Paint if desired (this can only add the ambience). Use this as a target for tossing “snow balls” (white Styrofoam balls). Another easy game is called Guess the Snow. Place a variety of different white powders (such as flour, cornstarch, baking soda, sugar, powdered sugar, and baby powder) in different containers and encourage guests to guess what each powder really is.

Prizes and Favors

Some of the decorations can easily double as prizes or favors. These include the ceramic snow babies and the crystal angel ornaments. Also, any winter-scented candles such as new-fallen snow, heaven scent, evergreen, or holly are also perfect for this party. Another easy favor is to pour instant hot chocolate into a bag, add mini marshmallows, and secure with a pretty ribbon.

Food

A natural for any winter baby shower theme is angel food cake. Paired with some fresh fruit (a favorite is strawberries), this cake will convince your guests they are in a wonderful snowy heaven! Another option is coconut snowball cupcakes, which appear to be covered in a layer of snow. Any cookies that are dusted with powdered sugar also help maintain the theme. Hot chocolate, tea, and coffee are perfect for this party. Keep your guests warm by offering these baby shower drinks throughout the party.

The previous ideas are perfect for any baby shower occurring during the winter. With such a convincing winter setting, be wary of snowball fights!
